Thank You Napleton Nissan!

Hey guys, another super positive story about a local NW Indiana business that treated me right! Today I am talking about Napleton Nissan located at 1349 Indianapolis Blvd in Schererville. Let me give you the back story if you don’t mind.

Why We Needed A New Car

I am the kind of husband that wants his wife to always have a newer car. I am the complete opposite of my parents. They would keep a car for 15 years until the driver’s seat fell through the floor pan, but me, I am just not that way when it comes to my baby having a safe, reliable car to drive.

So our lease on a 2006 Chrysler 300 was coming to an end and we started looking for new cars in February 2010. We originally thought about staying with Chrysler and maybe downgrading to a smaller Chrysler Sebring 4 door, but that didn’t work out.

My wife wanted to look at Nissan Altima because she liked the way they looked and I like the lease deals advertised, and I suggested we also check out the Maxima as a comparison. We hit the Napleton dealership on a cold Saturday and test drove them both. Immediately, we knew the Maxima was our next car. I mean, seriously ya’ll, when they say it is a “4-door sports car” they are not kidding. I hope I don’t offend anyone with this comment, but the Nissan Maxima looks like a Lexus, rides like a Cadillac CTS and drives like a BMW Z4. The good news is that it doesn’t cost as much as any of those!

Honestly, it puts our old Chrysler 300 to shame, sorry.

Our Experience At Napleton Nissan

Another thing about me that most of ya’ll don’t know, is I am “that guy” when it comes to buying stuff. I am not an easy sell and I oftentimes come off as a jerk. It’s my charm! :) So that first visit to Napleton wasn’t a happy one for the staff there I don’t think.

I kinda knew we were not quite ready to buy during that first February visit (because our Chrysler lease still had 4 months on it), so I was pretty tough on the sales guy (who no longer works there) and kept sending him back to the sales manager behind the magic curtain. Each time I’d arrogantly and loudly demand a lower price. It was fun for me, but probably not for them. We walked out after about an hour with a good idea of what the car would cost to lease when we were ready. It was a fact finding visit for us and for the Napleton folks too.

About a week later, a new salesman called us and asked if he could help because our previous guy had left. Always in the mood to strike a better deal, we went in. This trip didn’t really do much for us because we were still locked in on the Chrysler, but it did, however, provide the Napleton folks with the idea that we were pretty serious about gettingĀ  a new Maxima as long as we could agree on a price.

Ok, so fast-forward to mid-March. We bought ourselves out of the Chrysler lease early and had no more strings attached. Now we could head into Napleton and wheel and deal for real! My wife called on a Saturday morning to make sure they had in stock what we wanted, a Silver Maxima with leather and a sun roof. We didn’t want navigation and backup cameras or any of that… just the mid range model and they had one!

Our Actual Buying Experience

We arrived around 4:40 on Saturday evening and found that our second salesman was no longer there either, but that was good for us because we got hooked in with this dude who called himself “Ricky Bobby.” He had only been working for Napleton for about a week, but that didn’t matter to us. I just wanted a sales person who would “hook me up” with the price I wanted. I was already sold on the Nissan, and I didn’t have a trade in, so his job was simple and clear!

Long story short, Ricky Bobby took care of us and we ended up with what I consider to be a great deal for a 39 month lease. Thanks Ricky! (thanks to the sales manager too who gave us the deal ultimately) ..and, no, I am not gonna tell you what my payment is, LOL.

The last thing I wanna say is that the Finance manager really made the end of our experience worthwhile. So many times I have bought cars and dreaded seeing the finance guy because you think they are gonna hammer your for clear coat and undercoat and whatever else to upsell you. But that didn’t happen with at Napleton. In fact, his whole message was to welcome us to “the Napleton family” so to speak. That may sound goofy to the casual reader, but it didn’t come off that way in person. Not only did we buy a car there, but we became a part of something and were made to feel appreciated. I dunno how else to describe it, but it really made me feel good about our purchase/lease.

He even came out into the garage to show us some of the cooler features on the Maxima that most people don’t think about. This showed that not only does he do the financing for the Maxima, but he actually likes and drives them. That says a lot.

I highly recommend you do business with Napleton Nissan. They are good folks and will treat you right! Tell them you heard about them on Around Crown Point Online!
